The 10 Best Theme Parks in Germany (DTN Ranking)

Welcome back to the DTN Travel Blog — your guide to finding the very best theme parks, one country at a time. After the Netherlands, it’s time to hop across the border to Germany: a theme park powerhouse with everything from world-class coasters to story-driven immersion and brilliant family parks.

Just like our Dutch list, this is our personal DTN ranking — starting at number 10 and climbing to our number 1 favourite.

10. PLAYMOBIL-FunPark – Pure Play for Little Adventurers

If you’re travelling with toddlers and preschoolers, this one is a dream. PLAYMOBIL-FunPark is less about big rides and more about hands-on play: climbing areas, water play, themed playground worlds, and plenty of space to run wild.
It’s a relaxed, low-stress day out — especially if your kids aren’t tall enough for the “big stuff” yet.

9. Ravensburger Spieleland – A Wholesome Family Classic

This park is made for families who love gentle rides, colourful themes, and interactive attractions. Think: playful storytelling, cheerful areas, and experiences that feel safe and friendly (without being boring).
It’s perfect for a full day with kids — and it has that “easy holiday” atmosphere that makes everyone calmer.

8. LEGOLAND Deutschland – Big Smiles, Bright Colours

LEGOLAND Deutschland is one of those parks where the photos basically take themselves. You’ll find LEGO everywhere: miniland displays, family rides, water fun in summer, and loads of building zones.
It’s an ideal “first big theme park” for many kids — and honestly, adults end up having more fun than they expected too.

7. Movie Park Germany – For Film Fans and Fright Nights

Movie Park is Germany’s go-to for movie and TV vibes, with a strong mix of rides, family attractions, and stunt/show energy. But the real reason many fans travel here?
Its Halloween season is famous — one of the best-known Halloween events in the region for people who love scare mazes and evening atmosphere.

6. Plopsaland Deutschland – A Park in Transition (With a Legendary Coaster)

You might still know this park by its old name: Holiday Park. Since 28 June 2025, it officially became Plopsaland Deutschland, as part of the wider Plopsa group.
It’s especially popular with families, but coaster fans also come here for one major reason: Expedition GeForce (still considered a must-ride by many enthusiasts).
This is a park to keep an eye on — the rebrand signals big plans and a more “resort-like” future.

5. Erlebnispark Tripsdrill – Germany’s Charm Champion

Tripsdrill is the kind of park that wins you over quietly… and then you suddenly realise you’re having an amazing day. It’s known for its warm, quirky German theming, lots of greenery, and a lineup that mixes family fun with proper thrills.
It feels authentic, personal, and a little old-school in the best way — like a park that cares about atmosphere, not just ride stats.

4. HANSA-PARK – Theme Park by the Sea

HANSA-PARK has a huge advantage that you feel the moment you arrive: it’s right by the Baltic Sea — and it proudly calls itself Germany’s only “adventure park by the sea.”
It’s a beautiful park for a full-day visit, with a strong ride collection and a mix of “chill to thrill.” One of its most famous coasters is The Oath of Kärnan, known for its tower and dramatic ride experience.
If you love parks with fresh air, seaside vibes, and that feeling of a real trip away — HANSA-PARK is a standout.

3. Heide Park – Big Thrills in Northern Germany

Heide Park is often a first pick for coaster fans travelling through the north. The park calls itself Northern Germany’s largest theme park, and it definitely feels like a “big park day.”
You’ll find a solid lineup of major rides (including its famous wooden coaster Colossos), plus family areas that make it easier to bring mixed-age groups.
If your group wants that classic “large-scale amusement park” energy — this is it.

2. Phantasialand – Immersion, Energy, and Pure Atmosphere

Phantasialand is one of those parks that feels dense in the best way: pathways full of detail, big soundtracks, bold architecture, and attractions that are woven into their themed worlds. It’s located in Brühl (near Cologne) and is known for turning limited space into maximum experience.
Two headline experiences for many visitors are Taron and F.L.Y. — with F.L.Y. flying through the steampunk world of Rookburgh in a way that feels more like a movie scene than a “ride in a parking lot.”
If you’re the type of visitor who cares about theming, music, atmosphere, and intense rides together — Phantasialand is a must.

1. Europa-Park – Germany’s Crown Jewel

Europa-Park is not just Germany’s biggest name — it’s one of Europe’s top destinations, period. The park itself describes having over 6 million visitors a year and being Germany’s largest theme park.
It’s packed with themed areas inspired by European countries, an enormous attraction lineup, and the kind of “full resort” feeling that makes you want to stay longer than one day.

And if you love coasters: Europa-Park’s major recent addition is Voltron Nevera powered by Rimac, which opened in 2024 as part of a new Croatian-themed area.
Europa-Park is the park we recommend when someone asks, “If I can only do one theme park trip in Germany… where should I go?”
