DO KEUKENHOF TICKETS SELL OUT? (Yes — here’s what to do)

Published on 18 February 2026 at 16:22

Yes. Keukenhof tickets do sell out, because entry is sold in limited time slots for specific dates. The busiest days (and the ones most likely to disappear first) are weekends and periods that overlap with Dutch school holidays especially during peak bloom season. Keukenhof itself also advises buying tickets in advance to secure your visit.

If you’re planning to go in 2026, Keukenhof is open 19 March through 10 May, 2026 (daily).

Our best advice (so you don’t miss out)

1) Book your tickets as soon as you have a rough plan

If you want a weekend, a popular midday slot, or you’re traveling during a school break: secure your tickets early. Once a time slot is gone, it’s gone.

Keukenhof tickets are tied to a date + time slot, and they explicitly recommend purchasing in advance.

2) Choose a “low-risk” time slot

If you still have flexibility, these choices usually give you the best odds:

  • Weekdays (Tuesday–Thursday are often calmer than weekends)

  • Early morning entry

  • Late afternoon entry

3) Know the cancellation rules before you click “buy”

Policies depend on where you buy:

  • Official Keukenhof tickets: Keukenhof states you can cancel tickets bought via their website up to 4 days before arrival, with a €2.50 administrative fee.

  • Some third-party ticket/transport packages offer different flexibility (sometimes even 24 hours), but always double-check the exact conditions on the product page before booking.

So: book early, but book smart—pick the option with the flexibility you actually want.

How far in advance do they sell out?

There isn’t one universal rule, but patterns are pretty consistent:

  • Peak weekends in April and early May can be among the first to go (because capacity per slot is limited).

  • School holiday periods increase demand fast (especially when good weather is forecast).

Quick FAQ

Can I buy tickets at the gate?
Keukenhof emphasizes online tickets for a specific date/time slot, and recommends buying in advance to secure entry.

When do tickets go on sale for 2026?
Keukenhof states tickets for 2026 are available from 15 October via their official site.

What if my preferred slot is sold out?
Try:

  • Another time slot the same day (early/late)

  • A weekday instead of a weekend

  • A ticket + transport package (sometimes availability differs by ticket type)

DTN tip

If Keukenhof is one of the highlights of your Netherlands trip, treat it like a “must-do” attraction: lock it in first, then plan the rest of your day around it. That way, you’re not building your whole schedule on a time slot that might vanish.

If you want, I can also write a companion DTN article: “Best time to visit Keukenhof (crowds + bloom + photography tips)” for 2026, in the same style.
